Title: Spatial metabolomics with surface-sampling capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry
Ingela Lanekoff is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry and research leader in the Department of Life Sciences at Uppsala University, Sweden. Her work centers on innovative mass spectrometry, with a particular focus on developing and applying advanced MS methodologies for spatial and cellular metabolomics. She has pioneered several analytical platforms, including surface sampling capillary electrophoresis (SS‑CE), direct infusion probe (DIP) analysis, pneumatically assisted nano‑DESI mass spectrometry imaging (PA nano‑DESI MSI), and the ion‑to‑image (i2i) software for MSI data handling. Her research also advances single‑cell metabolomics and silver‑doped tandem MS strategies for isomer differentiation. Prof. Lanekoff is a European Research Council (ERC) grantee, the head of the Center of Excellence Chemical Mechanisms of Life at Uppsala University, and the President of the international Mass Spectrometry Imaging Society.
